Detox, Destress, and Re-energise – SOLD OUT
Saturday, 19 January 2019, 13.30 – 15.30
The Secret Space Hertford

It is just too easy to rush from month to month, from year to year, without taking a break, feeling depleted and lost as a result.

In this workshop you will have the time and space to reflect, connect, and recharge your batteries so that you can move on to the new year with renewed energy and confidence. You will be guided through a wholesome class including poses which will help gently detoxify, stretch and strengthen the whole body. This is followed by restorative yin postures which will further relax the body and calm the mind. We finish with a guided yoga nidra meditation to support the process of saying goodbye to the past year and welcoming the year ahead. All levels of practitioners are welcome to attend.

Building Strength

Many yoga asanas require strength – in the legs, arms and core. Developing strength can be one of the most satisfying aspects of yoga practice
as it has an immediate positive effect not only on executing poses during class but also on stability, balance, posture, and inner confidence.

Based on the principles of strength training, you will work with poses and preparatory exercises to help you gradually get stronger and get support in developing a home practice plan to help you reach your goals.

After the success of my very first Yoga Day Retreat in October, the next one is planned, booked and in the diary! It is a day dedicated to your health and wellbeing as you immerse yourself in the various aspects of yoga: the practice of postures, pranayama, meditation and relaxation. You can go for a walk and visit the wonderful spa at Sopwell House. Read a book. Catch up with a friend. Chill out.

Stretching and Flexibility

If (like me) you are not a naturally flexible person, you might be intimidated by asanas which require flexibility in your hamstrings, hips or shoulders. Fear not, there is hope: By learning about different types of stretching, by staying patient and practicing diligently, you will see results.

In this workshop you will learn how to stretch muscles effectively and how to release tensions in the joints and connective tissues through fascia stretching and yin yoga

Yoga for Managing Stress

All of us experience stress in different forms in our life, and stress is a major source of ill-health and unhappiness. Stress is not necessarily bad but when things seem to run out of control it is good to know how to help yourself.

In this workshop you will learn about the effects of stress on the body and mind and find out about common advice for managing stress. You will then be guided through an extended nurturing yoga practice combining a dynamic flow with still yin yoga to regulate the effects of stress on the body, learn a breathing technique to calm the nerves and practice mindful meditation to clear the mind.

All levels of practitioners are welcome to attend.

I have been a stress counsellor for over twelve years and have supported people facing both work-related and personal challenges. My workshops combine the ancient teachings with the currently recommended therapeutic principles of cognitive-behavioural therapy CBT (which have surprising similarities).

This workshop is also available as a Corporate Workshop

As yoga has become more and more popular as a way to promote fitness and general wellbeing, so has its importance for the corporate sector increased. If you are working in HR, occupational health or as a team leader, consider including yoga into corporate wellbeing days, learning weeks, conference breakout sessions or away days. Overcoming Obstacles

We’ve all been there: We make progress in our yoga practice and then we seem to not get any further; we’ve followed up on our new-year resolutions but now we are lapsing into old habits; life is good but suddenly we experience a personal or professional setback. In this workshop you will learn about the nine obstacles described in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali as well explore routes to overcoming them. Through a joint asana, pranayama and guided visualisation practice you will connect mind, body and spirit to find solutions and explore your inner resources to support you through the process.

Cooling Summer Practice

The summer months are a time of light and heat, the radiant energy of the sun enlivens our lives. According to Ayurveda, summer stimulates the Pitta Dosha – and to maintain our equilibrium we need to balance this fiery element by focussing on activities and foods, which are cooling and calming. Join me for this balancing Workshop where you will be guided through a calming Yin/Yang yoga practice, learn cooling breathing techniques, and have time to enjoy guided deep relaxation.
